Attended: Chris Cope (guest), Mike, Peter, Sandy, Neil, Adam, Georgie, Lisa, Tash
Presentation by Chris Cope “Composition and Birds”
Chris’ goals:
- Artistic ongoing interest
- Evoke and emotion
Images need to be:
- exposed correctly
- sharp (where they are supposed to be)
- well composed
- have Something special eg light, colour, perspective, subject matter
Looking at composition more:
- Fill the frame
- Follow the rule of thirds. Chris often puts the key point of interest (eg bird eyes) on the right side of image. Westerners read left to right so we scan more of the image before we hit the subject/focus.
- Include visual mass. What draws the eye
o Eyes
o Faces
o People
o Large object before small
o ..
o Bright
o ..
o Diagonals. Use them to lead the eye to the subject/focus

Photo shoot in Strathbogie Forest 12 October. From Michael Flatt:
A day in the life of the Strathbogie forest.
Hi all, I am putting out a call to all interested photographers of any skill level. Sunday the 12th of October will be a day to come and take forest photos and enjoy the beauty of the tablelands forests. You can go to your favourite place at whatever time you choose or meet at the Strathbogie hall to car pool for a more structured morning. I will put together 2 or 3 suggestions of places to go and mud maps.
Please register with me if you wish to take part so the exhibition organiser and myself have some idea about what to expect. Please ring, text or email. 0409 03 1516.
It is possible to eat and drink in Strathbogie Village. My place will be available during the day if you want a cuppa, or a little sit down. Also if you want to see how your photos look you can see them on my computer.
One print per person will have a place in the Wild Strathbogie Show in November and we are looking at having a constantly running slide show for any others. This show will be at the Sheila.inc gallery in Euroa.
Also I have been informed that Mister and Lady printing services (Daniel and Kobe), which is also based at this gallery are offering to print A4 prints of the forest photos for 14 dollars each.
Hoping to see you up on the tablelands
Happy snapping,
Mike
